It also became increasingly clear that at various times since 1989, child welfare workers, police officers, school officials and other authorities came into close contact with the Lopez family.īut why no one fully comprehended Alisa's danger, and whether child welfare workers were monitoring the family in recent months or years, were central questions that remained unanswered.
Bit by bit yesterday, in interviews with the authorities, relatives, neighbors and other acquaintances of the family, details of the girl's life and history of abuse came into sharper focus.
